What I’m Working On
First, some fun news! My short story “Five Years Later” will soon appear on the THIRT33N podcast! I wrote this short story years ago (like, 2008?) and have submitted it at least twenty times. It’s too literary for the horror publications, and too horror for the literary journals! I got many nice rejections of the we-loved-this-but-it-isn’t-right-please-submit-again variety. I am so happy it’s found a home, and I’ll be sure to post the link once it’s up.
In the meantime, go ahead over and read my short story “Vestigial,” published in Sacrament: A Religious Horror Anthology last year. You’re gonna love Lisbet: she’s what happens if Elizabeth of Bathory met Jim Jones! She’s a scream.
The proof for my book, As Those Above Fall, is DONE! We are still working on the cover art. It is very, very close to cover reveal time!

What I’m Reading
I’ve been on a T. Kingfisher kick lately. I started with A House with Good Bones and am on to What Feasts at Night.
Kingfisher’s writing is tight and punchy, the dialog is realistic, and the story ideas are so, so creative. She blends in a fair amount of humor, which I always love. The characters are not only realistic but also diverse in terms of body type and background. Highly recommend!
What I’m Watching
I blew through Trickster on Shudder in about ten seconds flat. Based on a trilogy by Eden Robinson (which I now need to read), the show stars Crystle Lightening and Anna Lambe (who some folks may recognize from season 4 of True Detective), both of whom glow and sparkle off the screen. It’s PG and appropriate for an audience less into hardcore horror. Check it out!
