What I’m Working On
Obviously, the biggest news is that my debut horror novel, As Those Above Fall, hits shelves on Friday, September 13. Hooray! I am so excited to release Zorah out into the world - she is her own kind of monster. I can’t wait for you to meet her!

Publishing a book is about a lot more than writing. I have been tirelessly posting on the socials - TikTok, Instagram, and FaceBook - and appearing in interviews and on podcasts. I had a fabulous conversation with Vincent Midgard of The Dark Mind Podcast that dropped TODAY. Upcoming appearances include The Jersey Ghouls Podcast with Marissa and Jacki (who are SO much fun!) and Thomas Bruce of the Horror Realm YouTube channel. I will also have an interview featured in The Bold Journey Magazine. And I’ll be on the Scream Kings podcast in October! (Direct links to each of these appearances are posted on my socials as they drop and also on my LinkTree.)
Whew! Being an author is hard work!
Here’s how you can help:
Purchase As Those Above Fall. Preferably from your local bookshop! Buy one for a friend while you’re at it.
-OR-
Request it through your local library! The library will usually just purchase a copy. Which is great!
REVIEW the book: on Amazon, on Goodreads, and on your socials. This does NOT have to be lengthy or extensive! Just a few words is great. Reviews are one of the very best ways you can help authors.
What I’m Reading
While waiting (not holding my breath) for the final book in the Kingkiller Chronicles trilogy to drop, I read The Narrow Road Between Desires by Patrick Rothfuss. It’s a delightful, and sexy, romp featuring the fey character, Bast. It’s a novella and I read it in an afternoon. I also enjoyed the afterword where Rothfuss speaks about the concept of conflict in writing. He basically dismissed the idea that a good story needs a ton of conflict; this is a balm to my soul. I write horror, which is obviously full of tension. But characters within a horrific environment can be working in tandem, striving to be in unity, and seeking holistic relationships. In some ways, loving relationships can heighten the tension of a good horror story.
Speaking of tension, I’m rereading (for the I-don’t-know-how-many times) ’Salem’s Lot for the Stephen King Supper Club I’m in. This book is still scary: creeping dead, uncertainty, and gore, all hinging on extremely relatable characters who die in droves. It’s a great book for Vamptember (which I just learned is a thing.)
What I’m Watching
I watched The Tunnel, which dropped back in 2011. But I was in grad school and missed a lot of films from this time period!
It’s a quasi found footage film, shot documentary style with footage interspersed with interviews with “survivors.” I thought it was creepy as hell! It’s very atmospheric, filmed in abandoned subway tunnels under Sydney and an old World War Two bunker. Great locations! The creature exists in the shadows, making the imagination run wild. I enjoyed it!
Cute Kitties!
